I bought the $5 plastic bowling pin set at Wal-mart. Cut one of the pins in half and fill one side with white choc, tape the other pin side to it and rotated the pin around for several minutes to get the choc all over. I eventually put it in the refrigerator. While it was in the fridge, every minute or so, I would flip it in case any choc in the center still hadn't set up yet. Then just remove the tape & take them out of the mold. I had 2 break at the neck, so I glued it back together w/,more choc.
My cake board had 3-4 cake boards. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the pin to fit a wooden dowel rod. The dowel rod was "hammered " through the cake into the cake board at the angle I wanted. Put a little melted choc on the bottom of the pin to "glue" it to the fondant and put it on the dowel rod. It was pretty sturdy.
And when I say drilled a hole in the pin, I just used this tool that looks like a cork screw. The pins were, for the most part hollow. I just had to get the hole in the bottom. Once I got thehole made, I put the dowel rod in as far as it would go.
