Tinker Bell 1st Birthday Cake for my hairdresser's cute lil girl
6" square Strawberry cake with vanilla buttercream and fresh strawberries.
*topper supplied by client. I only wish I could sculpt that good!!
Its beautiful! I have a question since I am still new at this, if there are fresh strawberries in th cake, doesn't if have to be refrigerated? Can you dov this if its covered in fondant?
I did this cake the night before and finished it up in the morning so I didn't refridgerate BUT you certainly can...and I have, with no problems. A lot of people will say not to but as long as you let the cake sit until the whole thing comes to room temp you shouldn't have any problems. There will be some condensation on the fondant but you just need to not touch it till it dries. Thanks for all the nice comments.
Thanks for the comments. I'm sorry, I neglected to answer a couple of the questions...yes...it's fondant and the piping and dots are RI. The quills are made by hand. I cut strips using my
oops...I hit 'ok' before I was finished...anyway...I cut strips using my pink strip cutters (can't remember the brand name) and then cut, joined and curled them and let them dry. If you google you can likely find editorials on how to do it. I think Bonnie Gordon has one on her site.
