This was a nightmare! It is the first time I have ever done stenciling and I didn't get the hang of it - at all! If anyone has pointers, please pass them on because I love the look. Thank goodness the venue was dimly lit so the cake actually looked good because you couldn't see all the mistakes! Buttercream scrolling on fondant. Fabric satin ribon.

Looks great! When I have stenciled I used RI and I had pretty good results. :)

i think it looks amazing!

Every time I make a cake that I am slightly unhappy with I always remember what my teacher told me and what I telll any one who makes cakes, remember the people receiving the cake will most likely not be able to do it themselves and will be amazed at your achievements. Don't point out your mistakes as most people will not notice. Awesome job. Considering the dark colour icing you were using.I don't think many could improve on it. :)

I think it looks great! But could you tell me where you got the stencil? I have a cake very similar to this coming up in the next few weeks, and I still have not been able to find a stencil that I like, and I am not confident enough yet to try it free hand.

I totally agree with "caccy"... it's beautiful and I'm sure everyone at the wedding thought so, too!

I got the stencil at www.designer stencils.com. It is called Leafy Scroll Side C358. Good Luck

I agree with the others, it looks wonderful. I do agree with kpk125 - I tend to be much happier with my stenciling when it is done with RI instead of buttercream or the gel icings. :D

I also think it looks great but some of us just tend to be perfectionists- I can definiely relate

I LOVE it!!!

It caught my eye instantly-A stunning cake. And I agree that you never point out flaws-they won't see them. I used royal for the 1 cake like this-mine was damask, not scroll. Anyway, my royal was rather thick, not too thick tho!
