My friend planned a luau themed party for her 2 year old daughter, and since they have a ton of friends and family, they needed a ton of cake! So... voila! My first tiered cake was born! It took some creative cake engineering, but it turned out to be really stable, and successfully survived the 30 minute drive to the party. My favorite part was the marbleized blue fondant for the ocean - it was so pretty and silky smooth! The kiddos at the party loved eating the flower border. The cake was lemon/strawberry/lemon, covered in buttercream and mmf, with fondant decorations with a bit of gumpaste added because of the south texas humidity! the island is brown sugar, and the hula girl is a princess jasmine doll inside 2 carved cupcakes.
