In album: tree
This was the groom's cake I did for my SIL's wedding. But could also be for a shower I suppose. I was trying to copy a cake I saw online and this was my first attempt. I had trouble with airbrushing the tree rings due to my airbrush pen breaking. The actually should be smaller around, but Oh well. Hope you like it

This is really a neat idea. I especially like the initials on the top!

are the butterflies made from rice paper??????
rabidguppy 1/30/06 at 6:30am
Normally yes, and they look just like this. This particular cake I was in a hurry so I just bought these. But yes, normally the butterflies are scans and printed onto rice paper with icing bodies.

has anyone actually tried the rice paper??? I have heard others say that they use it for edible images on cakes, I was just wondering how that works?? does it disappear into the cake, is it easy to cut through??

how did you do the tree bark look?
rabidguppy 7/12/08 at 5:51am
the bark is regular buttercream mixed with cocoa powder till stiff. Then pressed into the side of the cake with a fork. Time consuming but looks real when viewed up close.
