In community album: Pulled Sugar / Blown Sugar
I needed realistic looking wine bottles for some cakes I have coming up. I made a silicone mold and produced these sugar bottles from just sugar, corn syrup, water and a little gel color. The color changes based on how close you are to hard crack temp. I am going to try some isomalt next to see if there is a big difference in appearance. You can see a tutorial on how to make sugar bottles at "www.makeyourownmolds.com". The copy flex is kind of expensive but you can use the mold over and over.

very cool, so you didn't add any coloring to the sugar?

I used a basic hard candy recipe. 1c sugar, 1/3c corn syrup, 1/2c water , a pinch of cream of tarter and a small amount of green gel color. I brought to a boil and took to hard crack stage on candy thermometer.. I let it cool for a minute or two then poured into my mold. I turned the mold upside down to let the excess syrup coat the sides and run out. :)

Do your bottles have bubbles in them? I'm having a hard time to not have bubbles.
