Brian's Brews

Brian's Brews on Cake Central

Okay - I admit it. This is probably one of the coolest cakes I have ever done. I am so very pleased with it. Airbrushed the bucket with my Preval sprayer (used at my own risk LOL!) and LOVE how it came out!!!

Bottles and ice are made from sugar and I NEVER could have done it with out DianeLM tips - THANK YOU SO MUCH! They have edible images for the labels which I designed (again thanks to some of you CCer's for inspiration!) Bartender thought it was really a bucket of beer!

I love this cake! I read about your how to for the bottle (thank you very much), but can you explain how you did the ice?

on

The ice is just the same sugar mixture cooked a little less time so it is still clear, then poured out onto foil and crushed up once it is cool.

on

What type of mold did you use for the bottles? This really is the collest cake I've ever seen!! Great job! ;-D

on

I have found the the liquid silicon rubber is hard to find in my area. You can brush this in several layers on a real bottle letting each layer dry, then peel it off for the mold. Remember to cork the bottle, cutthing the cork flush with the top. As an alternative, silicon caulking works just as well. It's thick and takes a bit longer to dry. It's recommended to make a mold of half of the bottle with modeling clay. Use the clay mold to rest the silicon mold in while making the bottle.

on

Being short on time, I only made half the bottle which required only the label on the neck of the bottle. Also, I painted directlly onto the sugar to make the labels.

Wow I have never seen such a beatiful cake. Please send me the instructions to [email protected] or let me know how to look in the forums.. Sorry I am new here.Again thanks in advance and thanks for sharing
