Looks to me like you're starting out fine! I had icing all over the place when I did my first cake! It was in my hair, on my sleeves, all over the table. Yikes! I think you did great! Keep it up and keep those pictures coming!

very cute, actually thought the spurts of icing was part of funfetti on the board. How did you make the hat top and bottom? are the round cakes cut to size?

I have never seen a party hat cake before. How clever. You did a great job. I also thought the icing on the board was supposed to look like confetti until I read your description.
