Ugh, this cake gave me some trouble. My oven was on the blink so I had to use my neIghbours oven, which kinda threw me out to start with. Then I covered my cake board two days ahead of time, only to find that someone had knocked the cover slightly sideways so a little Gecko (small Australian lizard) left me a little calling card. So, a mad scramble to find some yellow cardboard. The fondant covering went well, the building of the cake went well. My fondant wasn't red enough so I painted it with gel colour. Went to bed happy. The next morning the bottom of the cake had sunk, my white fondant had sunk and cracked, I smudged the red because it wasn't dry ............ fixed it all the best I could with royal icing and toothpicks. My son and his friends were delighted and everybody knew what it was. It was one cake I was happy to cut up and destroy the evidence!
