Thank you, I used a silicone cake pan of this flower. I painted in the choc. center, put it in the fridge to harden. I then painted the yellow shell on the cake pan. When that came out of the fridge I put a layer of buttercream and then a small piece of cake. I then closed the cake pan up with a final layer of yellow choc.. I put the cake pan in the freezer for about an hour. Carefully removed my flower from the cake pan.

Hi Funnycakes, it was time consuming. First I had to paint the choc. center put it in the freezer, then paint with yellow choc., put it back in the freezer, then put a layer of buttercream and a small cake and then close the mold up with a layer of choc. I left it in the freezer for about an hour and then carefully removed the slicone mold. It was fun to do but I don't think I would want to do a large quantity of them. I would also have to invest in a lot of molds.

I really like that. I've seen similar petit four cakes that are made inside molds and they are fantastic. the presentation is exquisite. Would these be very difficult, or time consuming for you to make on a large scale? How does the silicone release the mold? Easily, or is there some sticking?
