Made for my FIL who is a huge Glasgow Rangers fan. My take on the soccer ball/scarf cake. This is a raisin spice cake with Irish Cream buttercream filling and icing. All the rest is fondant. TFL!
Tracy this cake is fantastic. I need to make a cake just like this one in a few weeks, do you mind if I pick your brain!..
How did you get the scarf tassel bits, it is just fondant? And to get the ball pattern with the black and white, did you cut each shape out sepertley and cover the ball with them or did you cover the whole ball with white first? And lastly.. did you use a football tin mould or just a bowl?
Thank you!! x
Thanks, Jasmin! I used the soccer pan (football pan) for the round cake. In the instructions for that cake pan, there is a template for the black and white shapes. I just rolled out a sheet of each colour of fondant and hand cut the shapes. Start at the top centre piece - that black one on the top - and work your way down. I found that the shapes fit exactly on the top of the ball but they got less "shaped" as I made my way down. That scarf covers up the not-so-great patterning on the ball! The fringe is...

Sorry for all the repeated comments - The website wouldn't take it at first and I kept resubmitting until it did. then, they all showed up :( I also wasn't allowed to delete any of them ... hope it helps!
Thanks so much Tracey for the detailed answer! I just didn't get the end of your message on how you got the scarf tassles?
Thanks again! Will send you a picture of my finished creation when I've done it!

Sorry must have gone over the word limit. The fringe is just marbled red and white fondant put through a clay extruder that has the small holes disc in it - the one produces "hair" I keep a clay extruder just for cakes/fondant.
