Think Green!

This design was inspired by a Debbi Mumm fabric panel meant to be sewn as a tote. I looked at the fabric and thought, "That would make a great cake!" The design was translated into this competition cake and was a First Place winner at The Queen City Sugar Arts Show held the weekend of March 12-13. The sunflowers are all gumpaste with centers made of poppy seeds. The river rocks at the base of the cake are chocolate candy clay mixed with fondant. The cake was covered in pale green fondant and sponge painted. The bee hive/skep was woven from coils of taupe fondant then painted with ivory gel color and dusted with moss green petal dust. Thanks for looking!
