The Angel is made completely of fondant and I did carve a portion of an oval cake to give her body depth. The wings were leaf cut outs with the edges ruffled. I added a vein down the middle of each feather to help with texture and then coated them with luster dust. This was a birthday cake and I made a scroll out of fondant that read "WOW our angel is 40!" This was placed at the bottom of the angels dress.
