Uss Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier
did this for a grooms cake, 6 9x13 layers filled and stacked. the deck was made on foam core, covered with black fondant. the tower was gumpaste and the airplanes molded chocolate. then there were 95 1" high royal icing piped sailors, hand painted standing all around the deck. had great fun doing this one. i actually made 165 sailors just in case!!!! still have them ready for the next one.
Keep those soldiers ready because I know you will get another order like this!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The "manning the rails" looks so perfect! Great job on the TR!! Where are the anchors on the bow of the ship? :-)
NOW THAT IS COOL!!!!
Oh, that is an OUTSTANDING job!!!!!!!!!!! How long have you been decorating cakes?
thank you all, Cake Mommy - i couldn't find a good picture to show the details on the sides of the ship. I probably spent more time looking on the internet for pictures then actually doing the cake. The groom was on board this particular one. the base board was MDF, iced in white with blue piping gel, the plaque was handpainted onto a fondant.
GREAT CAKE!!!!!!! How many did this feed? My Dad was the Forrestal & he would love this!!
i estimated 80 , it was 6 9x13s with a little trimmed off.
wow...wow...wow...amazing. this cake is perfect. i love it. would love to know the details on creating something like this...my husband and I were both abord the USS Nimitz CVN 68.

This came up in my search for a CAR, incredibly enough, but I had to stop and look, since my daughter was on the Roosevelt. You did an incredible job! Love how you had the sailors manning the rails!
