This cake was for my dad's 68th birthday yesterday. It may seem a strange choice for a grandfather's birthday but my dad had his leg amputated earlier this year and ever since he started walking with an artificial leg all his grandkids have called him "Pirate Grandbob" (his name is Bob) and they love the fact that they have a pirate, peg-leg grandfather. So I thought a pirate themed cake would be suitable this year! It's vanilla sour cream cake with dark chocolate ganache and chocolate fondant. The lid is RKT.
