Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. Covered in MFF (Michele Foster's Fondant recipe). The igloo is also cake (Wilton sports ball pan with some additional shaping/carving) covered in fondant. The penguins are all fondant.
The igloo is cake. I used a ball pan and then did considerable shaving to make it smaller and also less sloping. Then I covered it in fondant and used a plastic knifelike tool to sort of indent the lines all around to define the bricks.
Reneesg, it's cake using a Wilton sports ball ban. I shaved off the sides a bit to shape it more igloo-like. Then I covered it in buttercream and then fondant. Using a plastic knife-like tool (in the Wilton gumpaste toolkit) I indented the fondant all around to look like bricks. I did it freehand. Then I just rolled and cut a little piece for the door and attached it separately.
OMG, this is awesome!!! I am also planning to make similar to this cake for my fondant class, but I don't know how to make penguins  could you give me little advice on how you make your penguins? do I need a mold for that? Thank you in advance!
Maglo15, penguins are very easy. Just make a log, roll it a bit thinner at the top a bit for a head and pinch out a little tail in the back. For the white, I used the opposite end of a piping tip to shape the upper and lower portion of the belly, then a knife to cut the rest. Then apply the white to the black. The eyes are drawn on with edible marker. The beak I just shaped into a title triangle. The feet are actually cut with a small star cutter (from the Wilton star fondant cutters) then I pinched two poi
