Deer Cake

Deer Cake on Cake Central

1st disaster! Yellow/Choc cake w/BC. Antlers are foil wrapped wire covered in melted choc. Left antler leaned a bit and after about 40 min. gravity took over and deer did a nose dive. I was able to get it set back up w/out antlers. Customer was really great about and someone joked that he got a buck & a doe for the price of one! Lesson learned- this was my first deer and now I know where to support differently. Got GREAT directions from boween after I did this one-may try hers next time!

Thanks-I didn't take a picture of the disaster part. That's a good one about shedding the antlers. I also think it looks more like Bambi than a "manly" buck. Thanks for all the wonderful comments.

I have directions for a MUCH better buck and will get those out asap. Here's a start for mine- the neck is the wonder mold pan, back is an 11 x15 trimmed and built up for shape. The head is (2) 6" layers with a 3rd carved and built up for the nose and then cake pieces for the end of the nose. Under the head there are supports and I cut a plastic cake board (corrugated) to fit from nose to back of head.( SHOULD have doubled or even tripled this!) There were holes made for the antlers to go through.
