Gumpaste Carnations

Gumpaste Carnations on Cake Central

My first attempt at gumpaste carnations. I've been really intimidated by all that frilling. It really wasn't bad!! They're pretty fast to make compared to a lot of other flowers

Oh my gosh! Those are perfect, couldn't look more real!!! Beautiful colors to! I have never tried using gumpaste, looks like it would be fun to create something so pretty!

Very nice job! I am a Wilton Method Instructor and am going to teach fondant and gumpaste where we do this flower. I love this class.

cakel8t... you did an awesome job. i was just wondering what method you used in making these carnations? thanks for sharing.

Using the OP Carnation cutter I cut out my flowers in white gumpaste then brushed them with petal dust. Frilled the edge with a toothpick.I stacked 3 petals then folded the 4th in half then folded before placing it in the middle of the 3 stacked ones. Thanks for all the great comments!!

These are really lovely. Frilling with a toothpick takes such a long time. Have you tried using a crimped cutter and a ball tool for ruffling on a foam cel mat? It's so much faster and easier.

These are very nice and done the way carnations should be done. Gumpaste makes a much nicer and more realistic flower than fondant.
