I piped the handle onto parchment using royal icing. I drew the outline of the handle first. Piped the icing over the drawing, let it dry for 24 hours. Turn it over then pipe the other side of the handle making it look like a continuous rope. I cut holes in the cake almost to the board into which the handles were ancored.
No KHalstead.......you pipe it on a flat surface in a U shape.... then turn it over after it dries and pipe the other side making the rope type handle pretty well round.
