Abstract

This is a cake I donated for a wedding anniversary. The husband was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and they had planned on having a big celebration for their 10th anniversary, but with his diagnosis, a good friend of theirs organized a beautiful celebration for their 9th anniversary. She got everything donated, from the beautiful venue in down town NOLA, to the catering, photography, flowers, cake...literally everything. I was honored and pleased to be a part of it. He is an abstract artist, and I used his artwork as inspiration for the painting on the cake. The topper is one he made himself. 14/12/10/8 rounds. The cakes were coffee with pecan filling, chocolate with chocolate hazelnut filling, and lemon zest with raspberry filling. All covered in fondant and painted with a mix of gel color, americolor white, and vodka. You can see some pictures of the art that inspired it here:http://paulandlisa.weebly.com/index.html
