Rolled out the fondant and placed a piece of plastic canvas on top and rolled it into the fondant to get the grid pattern. Then placed fondant on cake. I cross-stitch too, so I pulled out all the threads it called for and made small amounts of royal icing in the colors of the threads. (There where about 20 colors.)

Adorable cake! I'd have to scan a cross stitch and do it in an edible image. I'd go blind doing all that tiny piping. Great job though. I am impressed! Love your eyelet lace border!
