Carved Pumpkin
First try with an airbrush. Best birthday present that I have ever bought myself. It was so much fun. The Jack-O-Lantern is four 8 inch round cakes covered in buttercream. Since there were so many pumpkins being uploaded I tried to be a little different. I used a paintbrush to make it look carved.
I LOVE this cake! So realistic! How many layers of cake did you use and how tall was it finished? Also, I'm in the market for an airbrush....what kind did you buy?
I didn't measure it when it was finished but I used four 8" round cakes. I used my 2" tall pans but they turned out a little smaller than 2". I just got my airbrush this past week so I am pretty new at this. I bought an Aztec airbrush set and a mini compressor on ebay. I went with what was recommended by Roland Winbeckler instead of the usual KopyKake airbrushes. We will see if I made the right choice.
Wow, does that look real!
Looks GREAT!!!!
Clever! Very different, just as you were hoping for. What is the stem? Also cake? Your shaping is really good.
I made the cake mix doctor perfect chocolate cake and a yellow cake using the durable cake for 3D and wedding cake recipe from here. I shaved the top slice a little and then used some of it to make the stem. I piped icing on the stem then used a paintbrush to make it look like a stem. Other then that I didn't shave anything else, I just added extra icing around the center. Thanks for the comment. My DH didn't really like it. I think I need work on my pumpkin carving. :)
wow it puts mine to shame! great job
wow, I would want to make a pie outta that 1!!!!!!
