Bride found this similar icing design in a magazine.  Thought it was very unusual and not expectionally pretty.  That was until it was completed and after I put the flowers on.  Now it's one of my favorites.  TFL!!!

wow, is that buttercream?!? beautifully unique!

Yes, it's buttercream. I crumb coated the cakes first then let them set up in the fridge. Then I used a large rose tip to pipe the stripes. I put the large end against the cake and spun the turntable, starting at the base of each cake and working my way up.
