I made this cake son's 3rd birthday. The top cake is an 2-layer 8 inch round and the bottom cake is a single layer 10 inch. i used wire ribbon around the edges to give it the checkered flag look and iced the cake in buttercream. The black road was made with black sugar sprinkles. It was fun to decorate and the friends and family loved it!

How fun is that??!! My 3yo son would go bonkers if he saw this! Using the ribbon was an awesome idea- good thinking! ;-D

My son will be 3 next Saturday and THIS is the cake he wants! He picked it out himself! That's my boy! :) I can't wait to try it!!
