My niece had two requests for her 3rd birthday cake...pink and Dora. But her mom didn't want an over-the-top Dora-themed cake. So, we found one similar to this online...and the birthday girl had her mind made up! It is a 12 inch 2-layer cake, iced in pale pink buttercream (hard to tell in the pic) with candy clay accents (candy melts mixed with corn syrup). I wanted to try making flowers from that instead of fondant...it was very easy to work with, but it is sensitive to heat. My niece LOVED the cake!
