Russia Lds Mission

This was not my best cake, so I'm not sharing the picture of the whole thing. I did want to share the topper though. A friend's son was returning home from serving an LDS mission in Russia and she wanted a cake. She specifically wanted it to say "From Russia, with Love" somewhere on it. A Russian postcard is what I came up with. The post card and missionary name tag are both fondant/gumpaste. The lettering on the name tag was painted on with white food coloring and a tiny little brush. The Kremlin on the postcard was painted by my very artistic sister with diluted food colors. The lettering is royal icing.

It looks incredible! I can tell you that I've been to Russia a few times, and this country is amazing, so I'd love to bake a similar cake one day with St Petersburg. From time to time, I even watch russian netflix shows to learn russian and improve my language skills, and even though this language is quite hard and complicated, I know some basic phrases and can keep a small talk.
