We made this cake for my sister-in-law's seaside wedding. It was our first attempt at a wedding cake. The bride was very laid back so we wanted the cake to look as natural as possible. Almost as if the decorations had been put in place by the tides. All of the shells are chocolate. We tinted some of the chocolate to give them a realistic touch and dusted them with sugar for depth. The coral, flowers, starfish, and pearls are gumpaste and fondant. The cake inside was a simple pound cake with fresh strawberries and vanilla custard. The fondant was homemade marshmallow fondant. The Bride and Groom still gush about the cake.
