This is a cake I made for the daughter of a friend of mine. They were having a luau for her birthday and asked me to make a cake. The top tier is a yellow cake with chocolate buttercream icing. The bottom tier is a devil's food cake with white buttercream icing. I made marshmallow fondant to cover the whole cake. This was my first time to cover a whole cake in fondant and only my second time to make fondant. I used gumpaste for the flowers and colored fondant for the palmtrees. I used chocolate and white chocolate shells and graham crackers for the sand.
