Sculpted zombie head cake for boy's 11th birthday. Mom requested that it be "realistic but not too gory and not a lot of blood." Three Chocolate 8 inch round layers and one White 8 inch half ball layer covered with Vanilla icing. Total height 7 1/2 inches tall. Fondant eyes and teeth. Eyes painted with gel colors. I call him Romero after George Romero, the director of the original "Night of the Living Dead."

This is excellent! Can I ask, did you spray paint the icing green and are the nose and ears fondant too? Thanx.

Naturenut, Only the whites of the eyes and the teeth are fondant. The nose and ears are cake. I used pieces I carved from other areas of the cake and stuck them on with a thick butter cream. The icing was colored with Wilton gel colors, no spraying. I put on patches of blue and burgundy icing on top of the crumb coat and let me crust before applying the final layer of icing. They bleed through and made the bruised area under the left eye and the blue “veiny” looking areas on the cheeks and forehead.
