First "stacked Presents" Cake

First "stacked Presents" Cake on Cake Central

I agree with previous posts--square cakes are a challenge! Is there a secret to perfectly square edges?! This was for my best friend's daughter and I wanted it perfect, but this is a close as I could get. I was pleased with how my first bow turned out--that was the only fun part of this cake. I am making her groom's cake, too, which is this same design but with one more smaller layer--and also square. Please help with any "square-ing" suggestion. Thanks.

I think you did quite well actually! There is a tutorial in the articles section that has pics and everything that may help you if you aren't satisfied with your work.

What size is this cake and how many will it serve? It looks great. Was it easy to do with buttercream?

jayla, I go by Earlene's chart ( www:earlenescakes.com)-the bottom is a 12" @ 60 servings and the top is an 8" @ 24 servings. It was easy to make with buttercream I was just not pleased with my "not so square" edges. I have since gotten better with practice. Thanks for the comments
