This was a huge cake that I made for my son's 4th birthday. My son and husband are Star Wars fans and my husband found a picture of an R2 cake that he thought my son would love. My husband thought the cake should be almost "life-sized" so we had a ton of cake for the party. This was my first time making a cake of this size, which became obvious when it almost fell over on me the day before. Next time, I would make it using 6 inch layers so it wouldn't be so big! The cake is butter cake with buttercream icing and fondant accents. The arms are made from Rice Krispie treats covered in buttercream.
