Uss Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier

did this for a grooms cake, 6 9x13 layers filled and stacked. the deck was made on foam core, covered with black fondant. the tower was gumpaste and the airplanes molded chocolate. then there were 95 1" high royal icing piped sailors, hand painted standing all around the deck. had great fun doing this one. i actually made 165 sailors just in case!!!! still have them ready for the next one.

Awesome cake!!! Did they want the grooms cake to feed so many? Must have been a huge wedding!! Your cakes are all very clever!!

thank you all, Cake Mommy - i couldn't find a good picture to show the details on the sides of the ship. I probably spent more time looking on the internet for pictures then actually doing the cake. The groom was on board this particular one. the base board was MDF, iced in white with blue piping gel, the plaque was handpainted onto a fondant.

This came up in my search for a CAR, incredibly enough, but I had to stop and look, since my daughter was on the Roosevelt. You did an incredible job! Love how you had the sailors manning the rails!

OMG...I was just looking through the galleries and landed on this one. Is this the same cake that was published in ACD or MN? WOW!!
