This is the first of two twin cakes I've been working on .  This one for my MIL, the next, in blue and yellow, for my Mother.  Fondant with fondant accents, gumpaste flowers and pearls, The lid is foam, supported by a foam wedge.

This is beautiful! Your MIL and Mother are very lucky to receive such beautiful cakes. I love it - going into mhy favorites. How did you get the pearls not to break apart?

Thanks! The pearls are hardened, then strung on fine beading wire. Beacause of the, the foam and the flower wires, I built it so that everything above the base cake comes off in one piece my mom can save. This also prevents anyone from accidentally eating the wired pears as that whole piece is removed before serving.
