Monster Truck Gravedigger

Monster Truck Gravedigger on Cake Central

This was for a 12yo girl who has loved monster trucks since a little tyke. It was fun to make and not as difficult as I thought it would be...coming from a beginner!

I used a 9" oval and 1/2 of a 3D egg pans. Put them together and carved the front for the windshield. I probably should've carved down the sides, but my cake did not rise as well as it should have, so I left it alone and built the corners up with icing. I also used sugar wafer cookies for the front and back bumpers - covered them in icing too!

I have to make this exact "Gravedigger" for a little 5 year old boy....going to use your cake as a guide. What did you use for the wheels? Great job on it!

Thanks! The wheels are Entemann's Chocolate covered donuts with royal icing tread marks. I'm sure you could use bc icing, I just had some royal leftover. I used the "He's a Big Wheel" from the 2004 Wilton Yearbook as a guide for assembly as well as another Gravedigger I saw on this website. Instead of using brown sugar for the "dirt" (which makes it waay too sweet for me!) I used crumbled ginger snaps - much bigger hit.
