Lightning Mcqueen

Lightning Mcqueen on Cake Central

I made this carved cake for my son's 3rd birthday. I was terrified of making this cake because it looks so hard. It was only my second ever fondant cake and my sister came over and helped me and it was her second fonant cake too. I cooked it in an oval pan - wish I'd doubled the batter so I could just totally carve it out of one cake without having to stack pieces. I cooked a choc mud cake and covered with choc ganache. The fondant was premade and was super soft and sticky, I think because of the colour. Made it really hard to roll out and it split in half when we lifted it on but it was easy to manipulate and erase any mistakes! We rolled this fondant sooo thick! The wheels are Mint Slice biscuits covered in black fondant. The accents are all in fondant except for the writing which is in RI. It doesn't look completely like I'd envisioned but it's not the train wreck I feared it would be either!
