She Loves Cake!!

She Loves Cake!! on Cake Central

My two year old niece loves cake. So the idea was to have a fondnt cake on top of a cake made into a table on top of another cake. This is a picture of the cake in progress. Dont have a finish product picture. I put "Happy 2nd Birthday Mya" on the bare yellow part of the base cake afterwards. It was a blast to make all the little bits for the top of the table. Cups and saucers, teapot, tray with donuts and a gift.

The base cake is a 10 inch cake, the table i baked in a large tomato can (450gms i think), both cakes are caramel mud. All decorations are flower paste and fondant.

Absolutely adore this cake. How did you make the platters look so real? I love the donuts and the cake with the candle.

The board for the cake is a piece of paste rolled out on a doily to give it the pattern, then the platter, was a cutout of paste, that i slowly moulded on top of a foam with a balling tool to make the impression so that the center would be indented. After that I went around with a very small balling tool and did the impressions for the border. I then painted the border with green and did some patterns that you can't see because they're covered by the donuts. Lots of work, but so much fun to come up wit...

Plus I adore my niece. Because of a split family she had three birthday parties this year and I made her three cakes!!!
