oh sorry! i was so excited it all worked how i had hoped that i forgot the info! they are double height minis cakes but extra skinny (normally do 2.5" wide and these would be 1.5" wide. the outer layer are mini cake 'pans' i have been trying to work out how to make for some time in my head, i thought one day that if there are cupcake pans why not mini cake pans!! and here it is, i wish i could say that it was my fondant work but alas no :D

Beautiful! So the cakes are inside the little "tubes"? What are the tubes made of?
deliciously_decadent 2/4/09 at 3:52pm
thanks! yes the cake is inside the case. this was just a trial, next time i think i will make the cases slightly shorter as they were almost to tall for the stand and the cakes were to short ultimately i would like the cake and the case the same height so that you can see the top deocration of the mini cakes, back to the drwing board lol! i maade the cases form card and ribbon

Yeah. Really all we can see is the cardstock so it is hard to tell if it is a cake at all. Good idea though.

when i get time i am going to try again and altering the height of the wrapper/cake i found a sweet art design that uses a similar concept not sure what they use to 'wrap the cake' maybe chocolate transfer? theres is on the back cover of modern wedding cakes (and theres are obviously high enough to see the cake tops lol!!)
