This is probably one of my favorite creative thinking cakes. I'm usually not fond of putting toys on cakes, but this one seemed an appropriate exception to my rule. The runway is fondant. The grass is all stars. The hangar is made of sugar wafer cookies 'glued' together with icing. I used an oval cookie cutter to shape the top of the hangar. The ice cream cone is a cupcake with Pez making up the windows. The plane taking off is held up by two plastic straws at different angles.
