Rosa Ortega lace, pearls, calla lilies and a stenciled name. I loved this cake. It turned out so pretty and I loved the mixed shapes! Cakes were French Vanilla and Butterpecan. TFL
This cake is absolute perfection. When using the lace mold around the side, how do you adjust so that you don't end up with room for only a partial lace cut out when you've gone all the way around the cake?
Thanks Bonnell. I just talked to the brides mom and she RAVED about the cake - sigh! I was so thrilled they liked it. As for the lace, start in the middle of the front of the cake. Add lace not in a circle but adding a lace strip to the left of the middle and then to the right. Repeat so that any overlap is always in the back not in the front. This lace lined up fairly nicely and I just trimmed to fit it in and in on spot kinda squished up the last little cresent shaped piece. Hope this helps!
Thanks so much for the advice. I bought my first lace mold yesterday and then panicked when I thought about spacing issues. Once again, your cake is gorgeous.
what i want to know is how do you stencil a name, since the letters on a stencil are in alphatetical order. how do you skip around from letter to letter without messing it up before it dries. i was recently faced with this problem and i just dropped the stenciling ideal all together. you can send me a pm or post here, doesnt matter. thanks for your help. this cake is awesome.
Thanks so much for the wonderful compliments! Pounds6 - I custom ordered the stencil from Designer Stencils. It was around $36 to have it cut. The bride pays for that little jewel just like she would for roses or something like that. Here is their link http://www.designerstencils.com/ Good Luck and hope that helps!
Thank you so much! The board is covered in fondant scraps and then I use a silk veining tool by JEM to roll over it to give it the fabric look. I then painted it with luster dust and Everclear alcohol. HTH
