The arm was carved from an 11X15 cake, frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. The fist was hand-sculpted (no pun intended) by using my fingers to get the right shape. The rats were made with small oval cakes that were allowed to "dome", frosted in buttercream. The hair texture was created by using a stiff brush dipped in thin black food coloring and "dabbed" on the buttercream. Tails are fondant and faces are gumpaste. Blood was made with corn syrup and red food coloring.
