This cake took 13 hours, by far my longest working time! I cut the shape out of a sheet cake pan then shaped the cockpit from the excess cake that was carved away, attached it with icing. The cake probably weighed 30 lbs, 2 cake mixes, 12 cups of icing, and "junior mints" + "bottlecaps" candies were used to decorate. The satellite was made from 2 peppermint patties, a pretzel stick, and a reese's peanut butter cup wrapper in aluminum foil attached by a toothpick. Platform=graham cracker.
