Sorry -- hit the button twice. She says that she covered the whole cake with fondant, then cut strips of fondant in both colors of equal width. She then laid strips of the first color, side by side over the whole cake lengthwise. Then she folded every other one back over itself to the middle of the cake. At that point, she lays one strip of the other color vertically across the long strips. She then unfolds the folded strips and folds back the alternate ones. Then she lays another of the second color

vertically across. That process continues until the cake is covered. Gonda's explanation is clearer than mine. But I've done this with lattice pie crusts so I'm kind of making my own explanation also. You literally weave the strips starting at the midpoint and working toward one side, then coming back and working toward the other side. Keep folding back every other one of the long strips as you lay the shorter ones vertically across them. Does this make sense in either language?
