Dr. Seuss Cake

Here is my Ode to Dr. Seuss. I made all of the characters with sugarveil(my first time with it; love it!!) The hat is made of rice cripsy treats and covered in fondant. The swirls and pompoms are made of gumpaste. This was a lot of fun and I am so happy with the sugarveil system; it's a godsend for someone like me who cannot draw freehand.

Thanks! Sugarveil is an icing that sets up but stays flexible unlike royal icing. I bought the dispenser system that allows you to draw very fine lines with it. This was my first time using it so I was astounded that I didn't mess it up!

Oh, this is great! Did you take photos of the other side? Please send them to me, I want to see them!! I am so glad you like your sugarveil. I tried mine a couple of times, then put it away. All the more the reason to bring it out again now! -- Theresa

Thanks! It is difficult to explain sugarveil so the best way is to give you the web address; www.sugarveil.com It is basically an icing that works like royal icing, but stays flexible when it sets.

how did you use your surarveil to make the characters? Did you simply trace them, and then fill them in? I have sugarveil but have never used it .. guess I did not realize the possibilities!

This one looks very much like my tribute to Dr. Seuss cake. Lots of fun seeing it all come together, isn't it?

This is SO amazing!!! I have been reading all about sugarveil since I viewed your cake! The only think I do not understand, is how did you get the charachters to come out so perfect if you did not DRAW them??? How did you do this? Is it TREACED onto the Sugarveil and then cut out? It's just too perfect! I'm SO jealous! PLEASE explain step by step how you did this! I'd appreciate it SO much!

Check out sugarveil's website to learn about it; it is really great. As far as the pics on the cake, well, I cut out pictures and traced them on parchment paper. Then it was just peel and stick
