32Nd Birthday Glock 19 Cake

32Nd Birthday Glock 19 Cake on Cake Central

I made this for a former colleague. Her DH owns a Glock 19 and wanted his birthday cake to have one on it. I wouldn't do the logo like she wanted, so I filled in with fondant bullets and some swirls and borders and a target. All kinds of problems with the buttercream and the board doesn't look that great to my eye. But overall, I think it looks pretty decent. I am a critique subgroup member.

critique subgroup member: I think this is a very cool cake. I like all of the details on the gun. The bullets look a little short and fat, but maybe that's how they're supposed to look. I know nothing about guns/ammo.. I think your icing looks fine and I like the fun borders and swirls. The board looks really good to me too. It is sometimes hard to make a really cool, personal, masculine cake, but you nailed this one. Great job.

Critique Subgroup Member: It's really nice. The gun has good depth & the bullets look great. The target's a bit crooked & I would have left the numbers off since they're so small. Swirls look strange?? I like the red and black combo and I think both the board and the BC look very good.

Critique group member: Wow! That gun looks amazing! The bullets seem a bit large for the gun but other than that it looks great!

Critique Subgroup Member. The border designs are a nice touch. From this angle, it looks like the front of the cake could be a bit bowed. You really paid attention to the details of the gun.

critique subgroup member: Great detail on the gun, and the bullets look great, though they are a bit on the short and squatty side. It may be the angle of the pic, but the top of the cake looks domed, and makes gun appear domed instead of lying flat?? again that could be just pic. overall nicely done!

Critique Subgroup Member: Great job on the gun! I agree as well that the bullets would have looked better if they were thinner and perhaps a bit longer! I'm think the cake (from this angle anyway) would have looked better without the swirls. Other than that I think you did a fantastic job! :D
