In community album: First Communion
This is for a boy and I didn't want it to look too "froo froo." I thought
about adding more details, but I didn't want the "over-decoratoritis"
look! I hope it isn't too boring. This is a combination of the Wilton
cross pan and a 9x13 pan that I carved and pieced together to give
it additional height. It is covered in fondant and detailed with RI.
The cross is made from white candy melts. It says "first holy
communion" on it and has a nice verse. TFL!

Very pretty. I'm doing my little nephew's baptism cake this month, and was thinking of doing something similiar...the cross pan, all white

Very nice work. Perfect for a boy or a girl, not too froo-froo at all.

Merissa, this is one of my all-time favorite cross cakes! You did such a beautiful job and adding the extra cake for height makes it look even more beautiful! Was it difficult to carve that 9x13? Any tips on carving it accurately since the Wilton pan has those bevels around the edges? Also, do you recall how many servings you got after adding the extra cake? Thanks for your help--love your work!!!!!

I didnt really carve the 9x13 much. It was more of cutting up the 9x13 into strips in order to fit underneath the beveled pan. I just had to slice off any extra to make the sides straight. Basically it was about as much cake as a 9x13 plus whatever the cross pan fed 15 maybe
