Wine & Cheese
Cake; 2 9x13 stacked, covered with fondant, painted sides with a brush using watered down color. Bottle; fondant/gumpate, molded using a real wine bottle, it is 1/2 a bottle. Label; edible paper and ink. Plate, cheese, crackers & grapes are fondant/gumpate. I coated bottle and plate with an edible lacquer, AKA confectioners glaze.
I love this cake! It looks so real. Where do you get confectioners glaze to make it shiny like that?
Fantastic work here!!!
cupcake900 - At my local cake supply shop. It is also sold online but make sure to get one that says Food Grade because I heard that they sell some out there that are not edible.
Fantastic, I love it.
Gorgeous cake looks very real
WOW that bottle looks soooooooo real.....I only dream! :D great job! Did you wrap the fondan/gumpaste around a real bottle?....how did you get it off the bottle? Did it harden on the bottle?..sorry so many questions. I am a newbie with gumpaste, Imade a crown ast weekend and it broke!
Wow, great cake. thanks for the instructions, I have to do a bottle next month.
Thank You! I used a real wine bottle. I put lots of cornstarch on the bottle, rolled out fondant/gumpate, placed it on the bottle and smoothed it to form. I made sure that the f/g did not go all around the bottle. Next day, it was dry; I flipped the bottle and gently slid the f/g off.
Excellent Job! Congratulations ;-D cake looks very real :)
Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! Stunning! Great job on everything. I can't get over how real that bottle looks!
