Another dummy for the most recent show. Pink and chocolate fondant, cut on the diagonal, with little daisies. I used two drums of alternating colors to make it stand out a bit more. The pink fondant didn't get as pink as I wanted it to, but it was already dry! Still, a fun design to do.
this is such a beautiful design..great colors!!!
Very pretty cake design, I love the diagonal looks.
:D Very pretty!
this is a really cool cake. how did you get the seams to match up?
Very nice! That will catch some eyes at the show! :D
What a lovely style! The diagonals are really eyecatching, and the daisies give it almost a lacey type of edge. Nice work! :D
Love the daisies!!! Favorite!!! :)
It's very pretty, I've always liked diagonal designs.
This is beautiful. Very striking and suited to any occasion. I too would like to know how you did the diagonals?? Please + Thanks
Thanks everyone! The diagonals on a dummy are easy. I laid the pink on first (wouldn't do it that way again), and just cut the diagonal. Then I flipped it over and did the same with the brown, but i smoothed the brown around the edges of the pink first, then used my pizza cutter to cut the line. since the fondant was still soft, i was able to mold it to the pink. If its on a real cake, i would do the bottom first, just drape the whole thing over the top like a normal fondant covering,
Ok, it cut me off. anyway, then i can do the top, with the smoothing, the cutting, and the molding. i let my little daisies dry partially before i put them on. then made the fondant centers (just a little pinch) and smooshed them in. getting the diag. cut is the hardest part, so trace it out first before you cut! HTH
Wow! I love this design. It almost looks black and white in the photo, which is what caught my attention. Your diagonals are perfect.
Another awesome cake chicky!
this cake is a real standout.
Beautiful cake! I lvoe the brown/pink combo!
