In album: castle
Someone asked me for this photo and SORRY...I erased your email! Here it is anyway. The waves were done in fondant and the rest of the cake is all smooth buttercream. The couple made their "first cut" with a tiny gardening spade!!

Oh, and the flag is gumpaste with their monogram written on in royal icing...glued to a lollipop stick with more royal icing.

This is such a cool idea. How did you do the top tier? And how many inches tall were each layer?
antonia74 9/29/05 at 4:42pm
each tier was about 6" tall...the top tier was just 5 cubes of cake added on and iced smoothly to blend in with the rest of that tier. Matching blue buttercream was piped as an accent on that tier only.

Alright antonia74, I'll bite! Can you explain the mechanics of this cake to us, did you have to do quite a bit of carving? :) It's probably so simple, you're laughing at me. I think I'm going to move to Canada so I can be your apprentice.

Really neat cake! I would also like to know how you made the layers slant like that. (You are not alone bikegal)
antonia74 9/30/05 at 10:36am
It was just a matter of carving the sides down with a bread knife. The layers were all filled and then chilled beforehand to make the carving job easier.
