I was so excited to take a class with Nicholas Lodge this past Monday and he taught us how to make the french purse cake and here is how mine turned out. I love it and learned so much!

stripes and french toile are done with stencils before applying the fondant to the cake! thanks for all the nice comments!

You said it was made with an 8 inch pan and then you torted it and stacked sideways. May I ask what torting is? Sorry, but I'm still a newbie. :) :)

Thanks for all the kind comments - he is an amazing teacher and I found it easy to do his techniques after watching him up close! I highly suggest everyone take his class sometime - any that he offers!

That looks great!! Did you paint those stripes on? They can't be fondant-they look way too real and wayy too flat. Again,grat job-I am soooooo jealous(lol)

I agree he is worth every penny. The man is an artist, we were blessed to have him come to Az. You did a lovely job.

Oh how exciting, I would love to take such a class. And not only did you get to take a class, but you came away with a wonderful cake. Your cake is fantastic - It really is ooh la la..!
