I was so excited to take a class with Nicholas Lodge this past Monday and he taught us how to make the french purse cake and here is how mine turned out. I love it and learned so much!

That looks great!! Did you paint those stripes on? They can't be fondant-they look way too real and wayy too flat. Again,grat job-I am soooooo jealous(lol)

Lovely cake! It is very elegant. So what size pans did you use?
Very pretty - how did you get the design pattern on the front?
It is made with one 8 inch pan and torted and stacked sideways - hope that made sense!
stripes and french toile are done with stencils before applying the fondant to the cake! thanks for all the nice comments!
You said it was made with an 8 inch pan and then you torted it and stacked sideways. May I ask what torting is? Sorry, but I'm still a newbie. :) :)
