This cake was created for my daughter's principal's birthday. He loves sunflowers, so I did a more "masculine" take on the standard sunflower cake. This is all buttercream/chocolate on a VERY chocolate cake. I also filled between layers with German Chocolate coconut pecan filling.
Adorable! What tip did you use to make the petals? Did you make really long ones first and then keep adding and layering?
I used a leaf tip with the larger piping bag first in the lighter color...went around in a circle. Then I put the darker yellow/orange in a smaller bag and used a smaller leaf tip to layer the inside. It was actually REALLY easy. The center is just star tip w/chocolate icing...
